bismillah

Kaththabat AAadun almursaleen(a)

The A'ad belied our envoys.

(26:123)

Ith qala lahum akhoohum hoodun ala tattaqoon(a)

When their brother Hud-AS said to them: Fear you not'?

(26:124)

Innee lakum rasoolun amen(un)

Verily I am unto you a trusted Messenger-AS.

(26:125)

Fa(i)ttaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon(i)

So fear Allah-SWT and obey me.

(26:126)

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen(a)

And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is but with the Rabb-SWT of the worlds.

(26:127)

Atabnoona bikulli reeAAin ayatan taAAbathoon(a)

Do you build on every eminence a landmark in vanity?

(26:128)

Watattakhithoona masaniAAa laAAallakum takhludoon(a)

And do you take for yourselves castles that perhaps you may abide?

(26:129)

Waitha batashtum batashtum jabbareen(a)

And when you seize you seize like tyrants

(26:130)

Fa(i)ttaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon(i)

So fear Allah-SWT and obey me.

(26:131)

Wa(i)ttaqoo allathee amaddakum bima taAAlamoon(a)

And fear Him-SWT Who has aided you with all that you know.

(26:132)

Amaddakum bianAAamin wabaneen(a)

He-SWT has aided you with the cattle and sons.

(26:133)

Wajannatin waAAuyoon(in)

And gardens and springs.

(26:134)

Innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheem(in)

Verily I fear for you the torment of a mighty Day.

(26:135)

Qaloo sawaon AAalayna awaAAathta am lam takun mina alwaAAitheen(a)

They said: It is equal to us whether you-AS admonish or are you-AS not of the admonishers.

(26:136)

In hatha illa khuluqu alawwaleen(a)

This is but a custom of the ancients.

(26:137)

Wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeen(a)

And we are not going to be tormented.

(26:138)

Fakaththaboohu faahlaknahum inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineen(a)

And they belied him-AS; so We-SWT destroyed them. Verily in this story is a Sign; yet most of them are not believers.

(26:139)

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu a(l)rraheem(u)

And verily your-SW Rabb-SWT ! He-SW is the Mighty, the Merciful.

(26:140)

In The Name of Allah-SWT the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
SECRETS OF REVELATION:

The People of A'ad were no different, as they too denied the Message of Allah-SWT when Prophet Hud-AS was sent to them, who was from their own race. He-AS conveyed to them the message, to fear Allah-SWT and to reform their conduct. He-AS told them that he-AS had been raised as Allah-SWT's Messenger, and was conveying His-SWT Message to them with absolute honesty. So they should fear Allah-SWT and accept his-AS message, for which he-AS demands no wages. He-AS expected his-AS reward only from Allah-SWT , the Sustainer of the entire world.

Unneeded Construction Of Big Buildings And Monuments Denounced

The Prophet-AS asked them to ponder over their own affairs, they construct grand monuments in every vale and raise colossal palaces, far beyond their needs, as if they were to live on forever. According to the Commentators, wasting millions on erecting monuments and huge palaces beyond requirement is contemptible and is denounced by Shari’ah. It is forbidden for a ruler to do so while his subjects are without the basic necessities of life.

The Prophet-AS told them that this pomp and show had hardened their hearts. And when they take someone to account, they deal him very harshly, to the extent of cruelty. These arrogant ways impede faith. Therefore, it was best for them to give up such conduct and fear Allah-SWT . He-AS urged them to pay heed and take his-AS advice. They must recount the Divine favours they enjoyed in the form of wealth, progeny, luxurious homes, lush green gardens and springs. He-AS was afraid that their misdeeds might invoke a doom that would destroy everything.

They told the Prophet-AS that his-AS preaching meant nothing to them, for it comprises the fables of the past. In every era there were people who spoke likewise, but there had never been nor would ever be a doom, they added. So they rejected the Prophet-AS’s word altogether. The promised doom ultimately took them on and they were completely routed. This story too has a glaring lesson, yet a majority remains deprived of faith. Allah-SWT is Potent over seizing, and it is by His-SWT Mercy that they are allowed to avail the given respite.
